Workshop vol.4 (the final) gmaking the botanical specimenh (Tokyo)
This series of workshop, aiming to involve the neighbors and users to the art-making process, became to the final. This time the weather was fine at last; participants observed plants with the lecturer and made specimens. They would be exhibited in the hospital temporarily.
Then in March, 2010, the permanent artworks with collected plants during the workshop, by Ms. Yukiko Kasahara (the artist) will be installed.
We would like to appreciate to all who have participated to the series of workshop.

Furukawa south junior high school. Workshop for graduation production.
gDearest things, nowh (Miyagi)
The workshop was carried out for the senior grade students for their graduation production. Takuma Nishitani, the artist was invited as a lecturer. In the workshop the students made gBox of the memoriesh by collage.
After the workshop, the students gave us their impression such as gI was thinking that paintings are for the talented people, but I can be encouraged with collageh or gI use to have no interest in art, but now I find out how joyful the art is!h , etc. This workshop was held 1 month spending 5 periods.
At last, one-day exhibition was held during the School Festival.

Town Art lecture vol.3 Round Table
gPlacemaking: public art, community, and the meaning of placeh (Tokyo)
For Round Table vol.3, we invited Ms. Penny Balkin Bach, the executive director of Fairmount Park Art Association in Philadelphia, USA. She talked about community engagement and urban planning in USA, with interesting examples in Philadelphia, such as pioneering program to put function into the art works, or project to relate art and the community in a creative way, etc.

Nishiwaki Hospital. Workshop gFlower Balloonsh. (Hyogo)
The workshop gFlower Balloonsh was carried out at Nishiwaki Hospital. Children made original balloons by drawing their own flowers on colored plastic films, and putting them on transparent plastic bags. These flower drawings became parts of the permanent artwork on the corridor wall..

We invited Mr. Richard Brecknock who is managing the consultant office of urban art in Adelaide and Brisbane. He lectured about public art policy in Australia, with interesting cases in each city.

Consecutive workshop is carried out to involve the neighbors and users to the art-making process. The third time, it was also held at the Medicinal use botanical garden. After Mr. Tsuneo Toriifs lecture on medical herbs in autumn, participants looked, touched and smelled the herbs and made onefs own specimen with the artist, Ms. Yukiko Kasahara. The specimens are exhibited in the hospital temporarily.

Qiball "30s. Theater Cafe"(Chiba)
The temporary caf? was held at gQuiballh, the complex building in Chiba city. It was an event-styled workshop. While participants taking a cup of coffee, they would think what they can do in 30 seconds, for example gHow many peanuts you can remove the husk in 30 sec.h, and took a movie and screened it at the atrium.

Japanese Red Cross Nagoya Daiichi Hospital
Workshop gLetfs make a dream tenth (Aichi)
The workshop was held by Mr. Jin Hasegawa, the artist, and the students from Nagoya City University. A large tent was put up at the pediatrics ward. Inside the tent, children in the hospital painted all over the walls and floors. After painted, they cut out the paintings and reconstructed them for the temporary exhibition. After the workshop, the students make the story based on the paintings, and made a picture book. The picture book was stored to the bookshelf in the new-built hospital.

Consecutive workshop is carried out to involve the neighbors and users to the art-making process. The second time, it was held at the Medicinal use botanical garden. Mr. TsuneoTorii explained about useful plant and relationship between medical treatment and plant. Based on this lecture, small medical herb picture books were made with the artist, Ms. Yukiko Kasahara. The picture books are exhibited in the hospital temporarily.

Lecture vol.1 "Landscape Design and Cultural Policy in the Netherlands -Urban Space and Art; Innovation on Redevelopment Area" (Tokyo)
In order to make presentation and join a discussion regarding public art in Netherlands and its cultural policy, we had four guest speakers, a Dutch artistic director Mr. Tom van Gestel, a Dutch artist Mr. Joost van Santen, and Ms. Kazuko Goto and Mr. Toshikazu Ishida who are Japanese researching urban culture and urban design of the Netherlands.

Qiball "Letfs make 30-second movie message" (Chiba)
The workshop was carried out at the complex building "Qiball" in Chiba-city. The stuffs from each facility and their users participated. They make 30-second movie to introduce the facilities. They planned, shot and edited movies for themselves and watched what they made at the end.

Workshop vol.1 "Creating art from plants - the lecture by the experts and the workshop" (Tokyo)
The workshop was carried out which people in the neighborhood and hospital users were involved to the process of creating artwork which will be installed at the hospital. Ms. Yukiko Kasahara, the artist, introduced the post-card making with plants that grow in the local area. Mr. Tsuneo Torii, the botanical and gardening researcher, who lives in Kodaira-city, held the lecture.

Furukawa south junior high school, Communication Bench Project "MUGEN"(Miyagi)
The workshop was carried out as part of a class which was aimed to study comprehensively in Furukawa south junior high school, Osaki city, Miyagi prefecture. An architect Shigeru Kuwahara was invited as a teacher. An object of the workshop was to make benches which lead students to have communication each other. The bench, which was made by each student, is unable to stand alone. It is difficult for students to sit on it until they connect their own bench with other students. Their benches that make it possible to free to create pleasant spaces infinitely spread around the school by hands of whole school (450 students). Therefore, the benches shall color future school life richly and comfortably.

Glass Painting Workshop, Yoka Hospital (Hyogo)
Hiroko Nakamura conducted a glass painting workshop for the patients, hospital workers, and the people in the neighborhood.
Nakamura used the glass pieces from the workshop to create a large glass painting depicting the four seasons of the surrounding mountains.
